Daveiga: Let's Speak Up—We Celebrate Our Culture, Our Language, and Our Identity: Galician Literature Day
At Daveiga, we understand that being part of Galicia means much more than simply carrying out a business project in this region. It means being connected to its history, its people, its culture, and its unique way of understanding life and work.
That is why, in celebration of Galician Literature Day, we are organizing “Daveiga, speak up!”, an event designed to celebrate our language as an essential part of our identity and as yet another demonstration of our commitment to Galicia. The gathering took place at our facilities in Chantada and brought together the Daveiga team and their guests for a day of fellowship centered on Galician literature, music, and cuisine.
During the event, attendees were able to get a glimpse into the day-to-day operations at Daveiga through a tour of the bakery, learning firsthand how our Mariñeiras are made and the work that goes into each product. The day continued with sessions dedicated to poetry, music, and gastronomy, creating a meeting point between tradition and modernity.
For Daveiga, Galician is not merely a language of communication: it is a fundamental part of who we are and how we view our mission. From the very beginning, we have been committed to using it naturally in our communications and as an expression of the bond we share with the region where we were born.
Literature was one of the main highlights of the event. We had a poetry reading by Pablo Ledo, Ana Gamallo, and Ramón R. Porto, three speakers who joined us for an event dedicated to the Galician language and expression. In addition, there was a raffle for books by Begoña Caamaño, the author honored on Galician Literature Day 2026, as well as copies for the participants in the reading.
Music also played a key role in this celebration. The group Atari Night, an up-and-coming Galician-language punk rock band, brought the day to a musical close with a performance that connects the tradition of our language with new forms of cultural expression.
In addition, the event featured various culinary projects linked to the region, which helped create a space for socializing centered on local products and Galician culture. Attendees were able to enjoy offerings from Vermú Lodeiro, Xeou Xeados, and Chicha Lovers, sharing flavors, conversation, and moments centered on our cuisine.
For Daveiga, Galician is not just a language of communication: it is a fundamental part of our identity as a company rooted in rural Galicia. It is present in the way we interact, communicate, and understand our connection to the region.
“Daveiga dálle á lingua” represents exactly that: the desire to preserve, share, and breathe life into our culture through a business venture committed to Galicia. Because language is also part of what we do, how we do it, and why we do it.
