Daveiga will participate in the 2026 «From School to Farm» school visit program

Daveiga is participating once again this year in the “Da Escola á Granxa” program organized by the Lugo Provincial Council, introducing the younger generations to the world of food and rural life. This educational initiative allows students to learn firsthand how our “tostas de pan marinero” are made and to appreciate the value of the agri-food sector.

Bringing the rural world closer to the younger generations

The “Da Escola á Granxa” program is aimed at parent-teacher associations (ANPAS) at preschool and elementary schools in the province of Lugo and facilitates visits and educational activities at agricultural operations, farms, and rural entrepreneurship projects.

Since its launch, thousands of schoolchildren have had the opportunity to participate in this initiative, which aims to teach younger generations about the importance of agriculture, livestock farming, and food production, as well as their vital role in preserving the land and rural landscapes.

At Daveiga, we take special pride in being part of this initiative. During these visits, children can get an up-close look at our work, discover how our seafood-topped toasts are made, and gain a better understanding of the value of a diet rooted in tradition and the quality of local ingredients.

These events also provide an opportunity to share with children the values that are part of our philosophy: respect for our products, innovation within tradition, and a commitment to the region.

Learning to Appreciate

Experiences like “Da Escola á Granxa” are essential for helping new generations understand where the food they eat every day comes from.

For us, opening the doors of our home and sharing this knowledge is also a way to help young people appreciate the work of the agri-food sector and the essential role of rural communities in our society.

What does the tour of Daveiga involve?

The visit to Daveiga is a free activity for school groups and lasts approximately one and a half to two hours.

It takes place in the morning, preferably at 10:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday, and can accommodate groups of up to 50 people.

The experience begins with a tour of the bakery, where visitors can see firsthand how we make our mariñeiras and learn about the entire production process. The activity then continues with a tasting of our toasted bread in the Daveiga dining room, organized in small groups to enhance the experience.

Groups must be accompanied by a supervising teacher (at least one adult for every 15 students), who must be aware of any allergies or food intolerances among the students and have the appropriate image release form. In addition, for safety and hygiene reasons, all children must attend the visit without jewelry or accessories such as earrings, rings, or bracelets.
