El Progreso: "Daveiga, the brand that's committed to people and the region"

Los hermanos Lamazares fundaron en Chantada en 2005 Daveiga, una empresa que desde entonces se ha consolidado como marca que apuesta por las personas y el territorio.

Their Mariñeiras Toast® has enabled the company to achieve a strong market position, and the next step is expansion. As noted by Xosé Lois Lamazares, the project coordinator, says this year will be important for digitization, which aims to reduce the workload and expand operations.

«We’re well positioned in Portugal and have a lot of potential for growth,« says Lamazares, recalling the early days. Both he and his brothers—Carlos, Óscar, Jesús, Andrés, and Manuel—wanted to return to the countryside after spending some time working in southern Pontevedra and in Vigo. «We wanted to come back, and we did so with the idea of a self-managed project says Xosé Lois.

Its model is that of a «social economy,» based on a «participatory» system in which employees also serve as partners in the company.

Daveiga’s main goal is to strengthen rural areas as a region where it is possible to «manage profitable and useful businesses«. The Lamazares, the promoters of this business initiative, are natives of Rodeiro and have launched their project in the Chantada industrial park, where they currently employ 71 people.
