Daveiga Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary: Two Decades of Responsible Production
In Daveiga We're celebrating. This year marks our 20 years since the launch of our project, a business venture that began in 2005 with a very clear vision: to demonstrate that it is possible to build a solid, innovative company committed to its people and the region right here in rural Galicia.
Two decades have passed since that first step, and today we want to look back to reflect on the journey we’ve taken and thank everyone who made it possible.
The Beginning: 2005, the Birth of a Project
The Daveiga project was launched in January 2005, with the incorporation of the company Lugar da Veiga SLL to launch a business initiative based on the responsible production, the social economy, and rural development.
During that first year, the team worked intensively on the design of the facilities and the development of the product. The goal was to create a high-quality food product, inspired by a long-standing tradition and adapted to current consumer habits.
2006: Mariñeiras® hit the market
Following that development period, in June 2006 We are introducing our Mariñeiras® Toast, a long-lasting baked good inspired by the method sailors used to preserve bread during long ocean voyages.
Since then, Mariñeiras® have become the heart of the Daveiga project and a product recognized for its versatility and quality.
Growth, Quality, and Innovation
Over the years, Daveiga has steadily strengthened its production model and its commitment to quality.
In 2008 We implemented a integrated quality and food safety management system, which over time has obtained international certifications such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 22000, BRC, and IFS Food.
Over the next decade, the project continued to grow, expanding its market and increasing its production capacity. One example of this growth is the increase in production, which rose from about From 400 kg per day in 2013 to about 6,000 kg per day in 2020.
This growth has been accompanied by numerous accolades for the business venture and its responsible production model.
New facilities to support continued growth
The company's growth led Daveiga to take an important step: the opening of new facilities in late 2022, designed to increase production capacity, improve working conditions, and continue to drive the project forward in the future.
These new facilities also represent a commitment to the region and to generating economic activity in rural areas.
20 Years Looking Toward the Future
Today, 20 years later, Daveiga is much more than just a food company. It is a collective endeavor built through the efforts of many people: employees, customers, suppliers, distributors, and consumers who have placed their trust in us over the years.
We continue to work with the same vision we started with:
